Myth and legend

I've been thinking about folktales lately as I've been getting reference material together for a book project. I do enjoy working on stories based on myth and legend and I've been lucky enough to work with those themes quite a bit over the years.

Sketchbooks

During college, and for a few years afterwards, I carried a couple of small sketchbooks around just for ideas that were inspired by the magical countryside of west Wales. There was a loose theme to the pages but there was no definite idea for a book, I filled the pages just to please myself.

Quite a few years later the places, characters, and small incidents I scribbled down ended up in bookshops.

Goblins and dragons

I was asked to write and illustrate an online story for World Book Day a few years ago. The subject was left up to me, so faeries, goblins, dwarves and dragons came to mind...

Magical Creatures

A few years ago I wrote and illustrated a book about magical creatures, and I think that book said a lot about what interests and inspires me. Anyway, as I'm new to this blogging malarkey, and apparently a picture paints a thousand words, I thought I'd let a few of those creatures make my introductions to the Interweb...
